When you step in the batters box, you want to do damage. Whether it is a line drive through the infield or a homerun, we want to learn how to swing with INTENT. There are many components of having QUALITY at-bats and we will talk about all the ways in which you can achieve that. I could go on and on about the technicalities of a swing but to sum it up; I teach rotating to the ball, swinging hard, and swinging at strikes. This is a growing game and I am quite a nerd when it comes to studying the swing. I am open to questions from the student as well as the parents. I think understanding what your body is doing is important!
I teach being aggressive and being athletic on defense. Fielding with your feet and putting your body in the best position for you to make the play is huge. It is not just the act of fielding a ground ball. Learning different arm angles, footwork, transfer, quickness and much more goes into being an ATHLETE on defense.
Each young women is different so I do not “cookie cut” my lessons and make each of them the same. Some learners are more visual and like to see how something is done or see what they’re doing right (and wrong) and some kids learn best by doing. Figuring that out is a huge key in how we can take their swing/defense to the next level. I bring lots of energy and passion to my lessons. I am going to give it my all to make your daughter better and I expect that they come and give it their all as well! We will have fun in the cage while we work hard.
I have a couple of goals but my overall goal is to inspire young girls to achieve their dreams as softball players. I am a strong in believer that softball is an avenue to teach young women how to be strong, resilient, and EMPOWERED. This sport has taught me so much in my life that I want to be able to do that for other young women around the country. I will teach them how to be mentally tough, bounce back from adversity, deal with failure, have work ethic, and how to have positive self talk. These are not things that come over night but are worth the hard work. These values instilled will last a lifetime.
